Frida the Rock and Roll Moth – Kim Hillyard

Frida is a moth who loves to rock out but when the Big Bright Light’s switched on, lots of other musical moths appear and Frida feels like everyone is so much better than her. Will Frida be able to find her confidence, reclaim her style and rock on once more?

It’s great to see this new picture book from Kim Hillyard, winner of the Waterstones Children’s Prize 2023 for Best Illustrated Book (Gretel the Wonder Mammoth), and what a shiny, uplifting story it is! Eye-catching, bright illustrations mean there’s lots for readers to spot and enjoy on every page and I loved the message about our inner confidence; there is no need to change yourself to fit in. A beautiful story to be read in classrooms, libraries and at bedtimes and one which will definitely inspire young readers!
